For Virgil Abloh’s Memorial, Kim Kardashian and North West, 8, dressed in black.
As a tribute, Kim Kardashian wore a Louis Vuitton vest, while North looked sassy in a sporty inspired look that included an LV purse.
When Kim Kardashian, 41, and her oldest daughter North, 8, visited the late Virgil Abloh’s memorial last month, they wore matching black outfits. In an Instagram photo released on Saturday, Jan. 8, the SKIMS creator gave her 277 million Instagram followers a closer look at their beautiful ensembles. On a bright pink carpet, the two were seen going side by side into the event, which took place in Miami, Florida on December 6.
Kim wore the Monogram Boyhood Puffer Leather Gilet vest, which was stamped with a 3D replica of the famous Louis Vuitton monogram and served as the appropriate tribute to the brand’s menswear, which was overseen by Virgil. She wore the vest over a black bodysuit and wide-leg black trousers, with pointed grey shoes and sunglasses to complete the look.
North also wore a men’s LV bag with an orange chain strap from the designer’s 2019 collection to honour Virgil, who was a close friend of her father Kanye West. She wore an oversized pair of shorts, as well as a top and shorts from Virgil’s Ruby-inspired collaboration with Pyrex Vision, to embody her father’s style.
Kim included cyclones, a heart, diamond, key, music albums, unicorns, rainbows, microphones, and other emojis to presumably encapsulate the spirit of Virgil’s creative brilliance in her caption, which included cyclones, a heart, diamond, key, music albums, unicorns, rainbows, microphones, and more. “There’s nothing more important than time,” she said at the end of the slideshow, referring to a heartbreaking phrase from the Off-White designer.
Virgil died on Nov. 28 at the age of 41, following a quiet two-year struggle with cancer. He has a long-standing working relationship with Kanye, dating back to 2009 when they met in a Chicago print studio and later interned together at Fendi in Rome. As a result of their connection, Virgil became the creative director for Watch The Throne. Aside from leaving a large number of close friends behind, the Chicago native was also a husband to Shannon Abloh and father to Lowe and Grey Abloh.
