Will Yankees fire Aaron Boone with playoff loss to Red…

Aaron Boone’s job has become increasingly precarious, and if the Yankees lose to Boston on Tuesday night, manager might be fired.

It goes without saying that manager Aaron Boone will be scrutinized by a large number of people on Tuesday night. The New York Yankees have already had a poor season, and a loss to the Boston Red Sox in the AL Wild Card Game will only make matters worse.

Boone is so despised right now that some ‘die-hard’ Yankees fans are rooting for them to lose so he won’t be back in 2022. That tells you everything you need to know about his present level of support. If New York loses, it will be time for general Brian Cashman to fire Boone from this seat.

The Yankees can’t bring back Aaron Boone if the team loses to Boston

Simply put, things haven’t gone well for the Yankees since Boone took over as manager. With his contract still expiring at the end of the year, offering Boone a new contract would be a significant choke job, especially after such an early exit.

When you look at New York’s roster, you’ll notice that it’s stacked with talent. There’s no excuse to not push for pennants when you have sluggers like Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, Joey Gallo, and others, plus players like Gerrit Cole taking the bump for you.

It’s been incredible to watch New York’s ups and downs this year. Because of their 13-game winning streak, the team was able to reclaim their postseason spot, but their inconsistency at the plate and on the bump cost them the rest of the season.

New York had to wait until the final weekend of the year to even be considered for a Wild Card position. This club had wanted to challenge for a World Series title before the season began. Throughout the season, they haven’t looked like a championship-caliber team.

That’s on Boone’s shoulders.

If the New York Yankees want to catch up to the Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, and Chicago White Sox next season, they’ll have to make some adjustments. The first step will be to make sure Boone isn’t anywhere near the clubhouse when Opening Day arrives next April.
