Despite a well publicized cast shakeup, ‘Vanderpump Rules’ returned on Sept. 28, and the drama remained steady.
The Vanderpump Rules season debut on Sept. 28 seemed extremely different from the program before the highly publicized cast shakeup, but that’s not always a bad thing.
To be honest, the drama was still present, and we’re keeping an open mind about the show’s future based on what happened this week. But, for now, let’s go over what happened.
To begin, Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz announced the opening of a new bar/restaurant. They were hesitant to inform Lisa Vanderpump, but after she did, she assured the lads that they have her complete support. Phew! Now if they could just come up with a name they both like… Sandoval wants to call his new Franklin Village restaurant “Schwartz & Sandy’s,” but Tom Schwartz doesn’t like it and Kate Maloney despises it.
Tom Sandoval literally told Tom Schwartz to detain her because she made it very plain. However, given her desire to play a key role in the new restaurant, we expect Sandoval and Katie to feud throughout the season. And that’s probably a good thing, because Katie doesn’t quite fit in with her best friends, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute.
Meanwhile, Lala Kent confessed they had been feuding for a time while Scheana Shay was busy preparing her birthday party. Scheana apparently requested Lala to come over and console her after she had a miscarriage, but Lala was too preoccupied with a meal with Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly.
Scheana couldn’t believe she’d been singled out for “celebrities,” but as Lala pointed out, Scheana’s boyfriend Brock Davies was golfing at the time, so he should have felt the heat.
At the birthday celebration, they settled their differences when Lala stated that she did everything she could to be there for Scheana and that she only planned to meet up with Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly after Scheana ordered her not to come over. Scheana first informed Lala that she wanted to be left alone, but she subsequently changed her mind, thus Scheana admitted that she was partially to blame for the feud.

And the reason Lala was upset with Scheana was that after the event, Scheana went on her podcast and slammed Lala, causing Lala to become a target for online trolls. Those trolls allegedly informed Lala that they wished she had miscarried her kid, which Lala claimed had a major impact on her life. They both apologized to each other and agreed to move forward in the end.
Later, James Kennedy was forced to confront his own problems, which now appear to include Lisa’s son, Max. They had to add someone to the mix now that Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, Stassi and Kristen weren’t around – we just didn’t expect it’d be Max. But, oh well. After a fight over splitting a check, Lisa confronted James for calling her son a “fat” piece of junk.
James eventually attributed his erratic conduct on a pre-workout supplement, but Max believed his apologies was insincere. When James became enraged and began calling Max a “wussy,” Max warned James that he would never return to SUR to DJ again.
Finally, after hearing Lala trash her on a podcast, Ariana Madix approached her. Lala had basically stated that she and Ariana don’t really like each other and that it is what it is, but Ariana was offended. As a result, when Ariana approached Lala about it at Scheana’s party, they got into a fight, but nothing was addressed because the episode concluded with a “to be continued” warning.
