With a submission finish against Uros Medic in the UFC 266 prelims, Jalin Turner made a statement.
Jalin Turner needed a statement win to earn the respect of the fans, and he got it and more by submitting Uros Medic in the first round at UFC 266.
Turner used his six-inch reach advantage to suffocate Medic on the feet, then used his quickness to knock him off his feet. Halfway through the round, he got a massive takedown before the bout went back to the feet.
Turner returned to stand up and hit Medic with a series of strong body blows that knocked him out and forced him to the canvas. Turner landed a flurry of vicious ground-and-pound attacks before securing Medic’s back and securing the victory with a rear-naked choke.
After his loss to Turner, Medic is no longer unbeaten in his professional career.
Jalin Turner adds to the bright future in the UFC lightweight division
After appearing on Dana White’s Contender Series and defeating Aalon Cruz in his UFC debut, Medic entered the bout as one of the most exciting prospects in the lightweight class. The medic made a strong first impression by knocking out his opponent in the first round with a barrage of blows to the body.
Turner, a DWCS alum with back-to-back wins over Brok Weaver and Joshua Culibao, entered T-Mobile Arena as an under-the-radar name on the UFC 266 event. He has a bright future in the UFC at the age of 26.
Turner now has the potential to go on a run in the category and move up the rankings sooner rather than later, thanks to the submission victory.
On Saturday, September 25, UFC 266 will be broadcast live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. FanSided MMA will be on-site to bring you all the latest news and highlights.
