The next season of “The Bachelorette” isn’t set to start until Oct. 19, but producers are said to have already chosen one of Michelle Young’s suitors to be the show’s next star.
Clayton Echard, a 28-year-old orthopedic sales professional from Eureka, Missouri, is set to star in the ABC reality show’s 26th season, according to Variety.
Echard was ABC’s choice, according to various people who spoke on the condition of anonymity. To HuffPost, a Warner Bros. source declined to comment on the casting.
Echard won’t be named “The Bachelor” anytime soon, according to Variety, because Young’s season hasn’t yet aired.
Nonetheless, E! Online reported on Wednesday that a film crew was spotted outside Echard’s Eureka home filming a promotional video.
Echard will be seen for the first time on “The Bachelorette,” but he’s a self-described “former freestyle rapper and washed-up athlete,” according to his Instagram page.
According to Heavy.com, the remark about Echard being a “washed-up athlete” was made in jest.
He began his college football career as a defensive lineman before switching to tight end at the University of Missouri. As a tryout in 2016, he attended Seattle’s rookie minicamp but did not make the squad.
Echard has been a full-line sales representative for Stryker Orthopaedics for the past five years, according to his LinkedIn page.
