Tate Martell announces transfer from Ohio State to Miami




Tate Martell will try to flip into the next good quarterback at The U.

Martell launched late Tuesday he is transferring from Ohio State to Miami (Fla.) and reuniting with Las Vegas highschool teammates Bubba Bolden and Brevin Jordan. He posted an illustration of the three in Miami uniforms on Twitter.

Las Vegas television station KVVU reported earlier Tuesday an official announcement will be made Wednesday.

Martell, who will doubtless be a redshirt sophomore subsequent season, entered the NCAA’s transfer portal after Ohio State added Georgia transfer Justin Fields this month. Martell beforehand acknowledged he would compete with Fields to succeed Dwayne Haskins as a result of the Buckeyes’ starter.

A four-star dual-threat recruit out of Bishop Gorman High School, Martell carried out in six video video games with Ohio State in 2018. He completed 23 of 28 passes (82.1 p.c) for 269 yards and a touchdown, and rushed 22 events for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Martell’s transfer is a milestone for model spanking new Hurricanes coach Manny Diaz, who returned to Coral Gables to succeed Mark Richt this month after initially accepting the highest instructing job at Temple.
