On December 31, beloved Betty White passed away just 17 days before her 100th birthday. Her cause of death was listed as a stroke on her death certificate.
Betty White died of a stroke at the age of 99, according to her birth certificate. According to docs obtained by TMZ, the stroke occurred just six days before her death. A stroke is medically referred to as a “cerebrovascular accident,” and it refers to a lack of blood flow to a portion of the brain, causing tissue damage. Broken blood arteries in the brain and blood clots are the most common causes of strokes.
The Los Angeles Police Department declared her death as “natural causes” on January 1. The LAPD tweeted barely a day after the Golden Girls actor died, “It looks to be a natural cause of death with no signs of foul play.”
The Hollywood legend passed suddenly on December 31, 2021, just 17 days before her milestone 100th birthday, which she was commemorated with a party and a special PEOPLE magazine cover. On Dec. 16, she tweeted, “I’m going BIG for my birthday — directly to the BIG SCREEN!” She followed up with another post on Dec. 28 about her forthcoming birthday. “It’s my 100th birthday… She wrote just three days before she died, “I can’t believe it’s coming up, and People Magazine is celebrating with me!”

Many in Hollywood, including her longtime agent Jeff Witjas, were saddened by her death. “I thought Betty would live forever, even though she was set to become 100,” he stated in a statement. “I’ll miss her dearly, as will the animal world, which she adored.” Betty never seemed to be afraid of dying since she always wanted to be with her beloved husband Allen Ludden. She was certain she’d see him again.”
Betty’s final world was revealed to be “Allen,” the name of her third husband and lifelong love, who died in 1981 after a struggle with stomach cancer. Vicki Lawrence revealed her final world after receiving a text message from a close friend, Carol Burnett. “‘This is simply terrible,’ I texted Carol. This irritates me. Vicki, 72, stated in an interview with Page Six, “It’s just heartbreaking to see the folks you love so much move away.” “In response, Carol wrote, ‘I know, I know.’ “I spoke with Betty’s assistant, who was with her when she died, and she stated the last thing she said was ‘Allen.'”
