Despite the legal claims against Erika Jayne on ‘RHOBH,’ Crystal Kung Minkoff spoke to HollywoodLife about why she remained by her on the show.
Crystal Kung Minkoff, a newcomer to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, joined the program at a particularly turbulent moment.
In an exclusive interview with HollywoodLife, the season 11 newcomer said she was still “getting to know” all of the girls over the course of the season and chose to show Erika Jayne “respect” despite her legal issues.
“It’s like, ‘team this, team that.’ These are people I’m only getting to know. She clarified, “I’m not a team.”
“[Erika] was telling me about [her ex-husband Tom Girardi] having Alzheimer’s, and my father had Alzheimer’s, so my heart and empathy were drawn in.” Crystal stated that they discussed their mutual experiences extensively, and she could connect with the former Broadway star.
“All I could think was, ‘What if this was my father?’ What if it happened again?’ I take people at their word. That is exactly who I am. This is who I am at all times, thus I instinctively show respect to others because I expect it in return.” “I want so badly for it not to be [but] I think it’s really not my place to,” Crystal responded when asked if she believed Erika. Nothing is set in stone, so I’m taking things one day at a time.
“At the reunion, I had questions,” she continued. Crystal teased what fans may expect from the much-anticipated reunion. “It was definitely a wild reunion,” the reality star admitted. “Sitting there for 10 hours… it was pretty intense.”
“I believe there are a lot of answers out there that people are looking for. I believe that folks will be satisfied. Individuals will be shocked by where people are and such such things, I believe. There will be plenty of surprises. It becomes a little hot.”
Crystal also talked about the “intense” time when her and Sutton Stracke’s dispute reached a head. “It’s just that the Sutton incident happened so early, so there’s a lot of time to sort of sink in.” I was prepared. “I was prepared for it, and I believe it went well,” Crystal explained. “I felt apprehensive.”
