Porsha Williams is departing The Real Housewives of Atlanta after nine seasons. On Sept. 30, the 40-year-old fan favorite announced her resignation from the Bravo series. She sent a lengthy note announcing her leaving on Instagram. “It is finally time to begin my next chapter after 10 life-changing, wonderful, incredible years,” Porsha wrote. “I will not be returning to the Real Housewives of Atlanta franchise next season.”

Porsha went on to say that she had to make a “tough decision” and “come to terms with it.” She assured followers that she had given the decision “a lot of thought.” She continued, “I want to thank Bravo, Truly Original, and Andy Cohen for this chance, as well as all of the show’s producers, editors, and assistants for working relentlessly every day to create our show.”

“My Bravo family and supporters have my undying love and thanks. You’ve made the last ten years genuinely memorable. One in which I’ve had incredible highs and incredible lows, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t have made it through some of them if it hadn’t been for the unconditional love and support I’ve received from all of you.”

Porsha’s fans, on the other hand, will be happy to hear some positive news from the message! She promised to return to television soon and delivered more exciting news. “I can’t wait to tell the world about all of my exciting new projects, starting with the publishing of my memoir, The Pursuit of Porsha, on Nov. 16. You’ll simply have to wait and see about the rest!” she finished.

The actress first appeared on the show in Season 5 in 2012, when she was married to former NFL player Kordell Stewart. Despite the fact that the couple split in 2013, Porsha became a fan favorite among fans. Porsha’s Having a Baby, which followed her and her then-partner Dennis McKinley on their journey to parenthood as they prepared for the arrival of their daughter Pilar, was awarded its own spin-off in 2019. (She was born in March of this year.)

The actress announced her resignation after a source told Page Six on September 17 that she was considering leaving to focus on other elements of her career. Porsha has previously stated to her cast members that she does not want to return to the show, according to the source. “Despite the fact that it is such a popular show and she is adored by fans, she believes she would like to pursue a career outside of it.”

Porsha has also been “worn out” by Kenya Moore and “all the drama she’s put her through,” according to the insider. Although the two have a long-standing animosity, a separate source told the magazine that a possible resignation would have nothing to do with Kenya. According to the insider, Porsha has a lot more going on in her life than anything to do with Kenya.

The RHOA star is also juggling a number of other commitments. She currently co-hosts Bravo’s Chat Room with Gizelle Bryant of Real Housewives of Potomac. Porsha’s life and family will be the subject of a three-part limited series on Bravo, which premiered in May.

On November 16, the RHOA actress will release her biography The Pursuit of Porsha: How I Grew Into My Power and Purpose. She’s also engaged to Simon Guobadia, which means wedding preparations are in the works.
