In testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, provided fresh details on a conversation he had with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about President Donald Trump and nuclear weapons.
Milley claimed that Pelosi summoned him to a meeting in January “Inquire about the President’s nuclear-weapons capability. I tried to reassure her that nuclear weapons are launched using a very specific and deliberate procedure.”
Pelosi, according to a top US general, is “Concerned, he made a number of personal allusions to the President. “The president has unilateral authority to use nuclear weapons,” Milley told Pelosi, “but he doesn’t unleash them alone.” “he stated
“I am not qualified to assess the mental health of the president of the United States,” Milley told Pelosi. Milley’s prepared remarks for the hearing did not include this reference to Trump’s mental health.
