Keke Palmer Says She Slid Into Jordan Peele’s DMs About…

Keke Palmer told Jordan Peele a few years ago that working with him would be a dream, and she got her wish with her highly awaited appearance in the 2022 horror film “Nope.”

Keke Palmer, 28, appears to have manifested the position in her latest upcoming film via a direct message. The skilled actress confessed that she contacted filmmaker Jordan Peele, 42, “a year or two” before being cast in his upcoming horror flick Nope.

“What’s amusing is that when I first started doing Nope, I went straight to Jordan Peele’s messages. For whatever reason, I messaged him a year ago, saying, ‘Hey, it would be a dream to work with you.’ I hope to have the opportunity to do so one day.

Thank you for everything you’re doing,’ she told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY on Oct. 2 at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles, CA. “And then I’m doing Nope a year or two later.”

Keke Palmer poses at an event.

“I just put myself out there!” Keke said when asked if she is an advocate for herself in her work. The worst that may happen is that nothing happens.”

In addition to discussing how she came to work with Jordan, Keke shared her thoughts on how a person’s social media presence, like hers, might lead to a good career opportunity in the future. “I believe it comes down to who you are and what you can provide. I’m a big service person, so I always ask, “How can I help?” when I’m in a scenario. “How can I assist?” she inquired. “And I think I use social media just to have a good time, to make people laugh if I can, and maybe to give them hope. When I’m feeling sad, I try to go to my page and write some encouraging words for myself, and I believe that’s essentially what it’s all about.”

Jordan Peele is directing Keke’s upcoming film ‘Nope.’

“Whether you’re doing what I’m doing, Kevin Hart’s doing, Tabitha Brown’s doing, or whatever it is that you’re doing. People like it when they can relate to you and what you have to offer,” she concluded. “When it comes to social media, the first question to ask yourself is, ‘What can I add?’ What am I able to bring? ‘How may I assist you?’

Daniel Kaluuya and Steven Yeun feature in Nope, which will be released on July 22, 2022.
