‘House Of The Dragon’: First Fiery Teaser For The ‘Game…

The first teaser for the highly anticipated ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel, ‘House of the Dragon,’ was released on October 5. Prepare for a lot of blood and fire.

House of the Dragon, the first Game of Thrones spinoff, is set to be as spectacular as the program that started it all. The events in House of the Dragon take place 200 years before those of Game of Thrones, yet it doesn’t make it any less compelling. The Targaryens’ rise and demise is the subject of this show. The Targaryen clan is rife with intrigue.

House of the Dragon will offer light on one of Westeros’ most prominent dynasties, adapted from author George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, which chronicles the history of the Targaryen family. There will be dragons, of course. There are plenty of them. The most recent news on House of the Dragon can be found on HollywoodLife.

On April 26, 2021, HBO announced that House of the Dragon had begun production. The official House of the Dragon Instagram feed posted a photo of the very first table read. “Fire shall reign supreme… #HouseoftheDragon, a @HBO original series, is now in production… The caption stated, “Coming to @HBOMax in 2022.” As they read their first screenplay, the major cast members were socially separated in a room.

First Teaser

On October 5, the first teaser for House of the Dragon was released. The show is set 200 years before the fall of the Iron Throne, during the rule of the Targaryen dynasty. We get a glimpse of the new Targaryens, their allies, and their foes in the teaser.

“Gods. Kings. In the teaser, Matt Smith’s Daemon Targaryen declares, “Fire. Blood.” “Dreams didn’t make us kings,” his narration concludes the trailer. Dragons were the ones who did it.”

‘House Of The Dragon’ Cast

King Viserys Targaryen will be played by Paddy Considine. Viserys was the Iron Throne’s fifth Targaryen monarch. He is an ancestor of Daenerys Targaryen. At the Great Council of Harrenhal, the lords of Westeros chose Viserys to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen. According to HBO, Viserys is a loving, friendly, and moral man who merely wants to carry on his grandfather’s legacy. He’s a dragonrider as well.

Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith in ‘House of the Dragon.’

On December 11, HBO announced the addition of three core cast members. Prince Daemon Targaryen will be played by Matt Smith. King Viserys’ younger brother and heir to the throne is Daemon. Daemon is an unrivaled warrior and dragonrider who possesses the dragon’s real blood. However, it is rumored that the gods toss a coin in the air everytime a Targaryen is born. Matt is best known for his roles in the television shows Doctor Who and The Crown.

Alicent Hightower will be played by Olivia Cooke. She is the most beautiful woman in the Seven Kingdoms and the daughter of Otto Hightower, the King’s Hand. She grew up in the Red Keep, close to the king and his inner circle, and she possesses both courtly charm and political savvy. She is most recognized for her appearances in Bates Motel and Vanity Fair, and she is 26 years old.

Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen will be played by Emma D’Arcy. The king’s firstborn kid is Rhaenyra. She is a dragonrider and is of pure Valyrian blood. Many people believe Rhaenyra was born with it all…but she wasn’t born a guy. She appeared in the Amazon Original series Truth Seekers lately.

Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans of ‘House of the Dragon.’

Rhys Ifans is one of the other cast members. He’ll play Otto Hightower, a famous Hand of the King who served three kings. Lord Corlys Velaryon, a.k.a. the Sea Snake, will be played by Steve Toussaint. House of the Dragon also stars Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno.

According to Deadline, Fabien Frankel will play Ser Criston Cole. He is of Dornish ancestry and is the “common-born son of the Lord of Blackhaven’s steward.” Cole has no land or titles to his name; all he has is his honor and a freakish ability with a sword.”

Steve Toussaint will play the Sea Snake.

Graham McTavish, who starred in Outlander, has also been cast in a mystery role. When asked about House of the Dragon, Graham replied, “I’m liking that, yes.” “I’m really enjoying myself. We’ve just just begun. We’re getting to know one other because it’s a massive project. They’re wonderful individuals. It’s fantastic, but I can’t say too much. I’m afraid I won’t be able to tell you much about the plot! But there are a lot of dragons involved.”

House of the Dragon announced two new cast members on social media on July 6. Alicent Hightower will be played by Emily Carey when she is younger. Milly Alcock will play Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen when she is younger.

‘House Of The Dragon’ Storyline

The story of House Targaryen is central to House of the Dragon. There’s a lot of territory to cover when it comes to the Targaryen family. “If you’d like to know a bit more about what the show will be about… well, I can’t actually spill those beans, but you might want to pick up a copy of two anthologies I did with Gardner Dozois, DANGEROUS WOMEN and ROGUES, and then move on to Archmaester Gyldayn’s history, FIRE & BLOOD,” George teased in his official blog back in 2019.

From Aegon the Conqueror to Aegon III, Targaryen history is covered in Fire & Blood. Given that King Viserys Targaryen will play a major role in the 10-episode series, it’s likely that the show will be set during his reign, which lasted from 103 to 129 A.D.

Dragons will be a part of the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel.

Time Frame

The events of House of the Dragon will occur 200 years before those of Game of Thrones. So don’t hold your breath for any cameos from the original Game of Thrones cast. In the prequel, we’ll be dealing with all-new characters.

Premiere Date

HBO has not officially announced a release date, however HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys told our sister publication Deadline in January 2020 that his “guess is somewhere in 2022.” Before the COVID-19 epidemic shut down most productions around the world for a period of time in January 2020, Casey remarked this. The epidemic may have altered the initial chronology, but HBO has yet to announce a premiere date for the prequel.

Behind The Scenes

The prequel is in really capable hands. Co-creators will be George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal. The showrunners for House of the Dragon will be Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan. Along with George and Vince Gerardis, they’ll serve as executive producers.

Miguel directed six episodes of Game of Thrones, including “The Long Night” and “Battle of the Bastards.” When the show won the Emmy for Best Drama Series in 2019, he was a member of the executive producing team.
