Halsey wore an all-leather cat costume for her first performance on the ‘SNL’ stage, and she looked stunning. For the second round, she was accompanied by icon Lindsey Buckingham.
Halsey, 27, was back on SNL for the fifth time, and she showed why. In a superhero-esque leather cat outfit, the singer sounded fantastic as she played her rebellious single “I’m Not A Woman, I’m A God.”
She sang during the chorus, looking immaculate under the lights, “I am not a lady, I’m a god/I am not a martyr, I’m a problem/I am not a legend, I’m a phony.”
Lindsey Buckingham, 72, of Fleetwood Mac, joined her for her next performance. On her most recent album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, the rock legend played acoustic guitar on the song “Darling.” Over Buckingham’s simple guitar track, Halsey’s voice sounded fanciful and dreamy, and the two produced an eternally memorable moment on the SNL stage.
Lindsey masterfully synchronized his vocals with her on the chorus at one point. “Lindsey Buckingham, ladies and gentlemen!” At the conclusion of the concert, Halsey proclaimed, clapping along with the audience.
I am weeping warm salted tears. Halsey and Lindsey Buckingham!!! Magic pure MAGIC!

Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, a New Jersey native, released her fourth full-length album in August 2021. The 13-song project chronicles the singer’s pregnancy and birth of her first child, Ender Ridley, with partner Alev Aydin, who is now two months old. However, Halsey made it clear that the album was not meant to be about “female strength.”
“Everyone says, ‘Oh, it’s like this is a girl power album,’ and I say, ‘No, it’s not,’” she clarified. “Not for nothing, but the lead single is ‘I Am Not a Woman, I’m a God’ – it’s not a girl power album,” she told Zane Lowe of Apple Music. “Right away, I’m thinking, ‘I’m not a woman.'” That’s not what I’m saying.
This CD is devoid of female empowerment…. People are expecting girlishness from me because I’m pregnant and creating this record, you know what I mean? And if I talk about gender, parenting, or femininity, I usually do so with a sour taste in my mouth. “Go be a big girl, a girl is a gun, all I can taste in my lips is blood,” she added.
Halsey is no stranger to Studio 8H, having performed there for the first time in 2018 with her hit track “Him & I,” which she co-wrote with G-Eazy. In 2019, she did double duty as presenter and musical guest in support of her Manic album, and she did it again in early 2020.
The singer hinted ahead of the broadcast that she “may skip” Saturday Night Live in favor of spending time with her adorable youngster!
She tweeted earlier in the day, “Feeling really busy playing with my baby’s chubby legs and tater tot feet could skip SNL unsure.”
