Chrissy Teigen is commemorating a significant achievement: 50 days of sobriety.
Over the weekend, the author of the cookbook “Cravings” celebrated the occasion with a joyful Instagram post that included her two lovely children, Luna and Miles, as well as her current thoughts on ever drinking again.
“Today is my 50th day of sobriety! It should have been almost a year, but there were a few (wine) bumps in the road. This is the longest streak I’ve ever had!” Teigen penned the piece. “I’m not sure if I’ll ever drink again, but I know it doesn’t help me in any way.”
The model explained, “I don’t get any more fun, I don’t dance, I don’t get any more relaxed.” “I get sick, fall asleep, and wake up unwell, missing out on what should have been a fantastic night. I had a good time with it, and I applaud everyone who can enjoy it responsibly!!!!”
Teigen announced her decision to give up alcohol in December, telling fans that she was “tired of making an ass of myself in front of people (I’m still humiliated), tired of day drinking and feeling like shit by 6, not being able to sleep.”
Since announcing her choice, the 35-year-old has kept her social media followers updated on her recovery journey’s highs and lows.
She’s recounted the “psychedelic” experience of her first sober Italian vacation, as well as the reality of not being able to “numb” her feelings with booze following her recent pregnancy loss.
Teigen previously went alcohol-free in 2017 and spoke to Cosmopolitan about her decision.
“I was just drinking too much,” the former host of “Lip Sync Battle” admitted. “I became accustomed to donning hair and makeup while sipping a glass of wine. Then, after that glass of wine, I’d have another before the awards presentation. Then there’s a slew of people at the awards show.”
She continued, “And then I felt horrible for making an ass of myself in front of people I genuinely admired.” “And that sensation, there’s nothing like it. You’re in a bad mood. It’s not good for me, not good for John, nor good for anyone.”
