Carly’s parents adopted her in 2009, and Catelynn Lowell, star of ‘Teen Mom,’ has come up about her relationship with them.
Catelynn Lowell, actress of Teen Mom OG, has been a reality TV presence since 2009, when she was pregnant with her daughter Carly. The 29-year-old Michigan native recently said that she and her husband Tyler Baltierra, 29, have a “wonderful relationship” with adoptive parents Brandon and Teresa, after placing her eldest child for adoption.
“They’re her parents,” says the narrator. On October 6, she told Us Weekly, “They get to make all the decisions for her, and properly so.”
“Relationships are difficult in any case. So it’s just a matter of evolving, learning, and maneuvering.” Catelynn and Tyler have subsequently welcomed three daughters: Novalee, six, Vaeda, two, and Rya Rose, one month, yet they continue to see Carly. During an episode of Teen Mom earlier this year, Tyler remarked of their dynamic, “I feel like whatever happens, I have to kind of, like, filter through Brandon and Teresa first.”
The proud father admits to feeling “inferior” to her adoptive parents at times. “I’m not always sure what I’m going to say. “It’s just extremely tough to navigate and feel close in a relationship when you constantly have to second-guess your approach and delivery,” she said at the time, adding, “Me and Catelynn have talked about it many times, we’re almost 30 now and we still feel like we’re in this inferior position.” I don’t want it to come across that way, but the reality is that I can’t get to Carly without going through Brandon and Teresa.”
Carly has yet to meet their newborn baby daughter, Rya, according to the reality TV star. “We’ve given her mother and father pictures and such. She’s seen her before, but not yet in person.” Tyler also posted an Instagram photo of his baby girl, who was lying on his chest.
“There is no better feeling in the world than hearing your baby’s small breathing sync with yours as the warmth of your skin meets theirs and both of your heartbeats do the same.” He wrote, “I’m head over heels in love.”
