Eagles Who Should Be Benched After Cowboys Loss

Head coach Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles is on the sidelines in the game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field on September 19, 2021, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

On Monday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles were humiliated by the Dallas Cowboys. After that performance, heads should roll on defense.

Nick Sirianni and the Eagles clearly have their work cut out for them if they want to return to championship glory.

After losing to the Cowboys on Monday night, preventing another blowout is a far more important issue than fantasizing about future trophies.

To show they’re serious about winning in 2021, they’ll have to make some difficult decisions.

After the Eagles’ loss to the Cowboys, there are three players that should be benched.

Derek Barnett

Derek Barnett was called for an offsides penalty in the second quarter when the game was still a one-score contest.

Sirianni was clearly captured on camera saying, “It’s always him.”

For the defensive lineman, that’s a game-changing moment.

In the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory, Barnett recovered a vital fumble, but it’s been a long time since then, and he hasn’t done enough to earn a spot in the lineup. He had a late hit last week that cost his side the game. Over the previous few years, he’s done it more times than he can count.

It might be different if he was extremely productive. Through three games, he has yet to record a sack.
