3 Alabama Streaks Snapped Vs. Texas A&m And 2 Will…

The Alabama Crimson Tide had a lot of streaks going, and one of them was broken thanks to a Texas A&M Aggies shock.Alabama has officially lost their attempt for a second consecutive undefeated season after falling 41-38 against Texas A&M, but that’s not all. Along the way, they broke three incredible streaks, none of which are likely to be matched anytime soon.

Alabama had won 19 consecutive games dating back to last season, the longest current streak in the FBS, but that streak is now over.

In addition, until this loss, head coach Nick Saban had won 24 straight games against former assistants, a 24-0 record.

Finally, the Tide had won 100 consecutive games against unranked opponents, which was the most astounding streak of them. Not any longer. The previous time Saban’s team lost to a team outside the top 25 was against Louisiana-Monroe in 2007. Texas A&M started the season as a preseason top five team, so it’s not all awful.

Alabama streaks snapped tonight:

– 100 straight wins vs unranked opponents (last loss in 2007); was longest streak in the AP Poll Era
– 24 straight wins by Nick Saban vs former assistants while at Alabama (was 24-0 in these games)
– 19-game win streak, longest active in the FBS pic.twitter.com/SLPXDfID14

Was it worth every dime for Texas A&M, including the punishment that would be levied for storming the field after the win? Yes, according to the audience, and a resounding yes at that, as the triumph will add to the Aggies’ lengthy list of great accomplishments.

Texas A&M snapped impressive streaks by Alabama football

While Seth Small will be recognized for his kick that sparked the celebration, quarterback Zach Calzada was the star of the night. Bryce Young and the Tide had a solid outing, passing for 369 yards and three touchdowns, but 285 yards and three touchdown passes were enough to defeat them.

On the Aggies, Brian Robinson Jr. rushed for over 140 yards, but he didn’t recieve the ball late in the game when the Tide threw three straight passes, which could lead to some skepticism. Ainias Smith contributed 85 yards receiving and two touchdowns to the Aggies’ victory. The Aggie defense, on the other hand, pulled through in the end and helped set up the victory.

Both good and poor streaks are impressive. Alabama had a few strong streaks going, but they all fell through, just like the game-winning kick. Even though all good things must come to an end, the Tide will still be a strong squad this season. Texas A&M University? They can brag about it.
