Weber State rolls past Benedictine 100-61 in men’s basketball

Ogden • Brekkott Chapman scored 18 elements on six Three-pointers, 5 players reached double digits and Weber State ran away from Benedictine Faculty of Arizona 100-61 Tuesday night after per week away from the courtroom over the holiday.

Chapman’s 18 elements and 6 treys are every season highs. Jerrick Harding scored 15 elements on a trio of Three-pointers and three players scored 11 each — Cody John, Ricky Nelson and Israel Barnes. The Wildcats (4-2) made 14 Three-pointers in 27 makes an try.

Carter Wilson led the Redhawks with 12 elements. Benedictine was held to 25-percent capturing inside the first half, 10 for 40, trailing 45-25 on the break.

Weber State held a 54-34 edge on the boards, scoring 34 elements inside the paint to 26, and led by as many as 52.

This was the second time the Wildcats have reached 100 elements in a sport this season. They face BYU on Saturday.

Southern Utah 67, BYU 64 • In Cedar Metropolis, Rebecca Cardenas hit a Three-pointer with 21 seconds left to supply the Thunderbirds the lead after which added two free throws as SUU (2-Three) defeated the visiting Cougars (5-2).

BYU had taken a 64-62 lead with 37 seconds remaining on a Three-pointer by Paisley Johnson. BYU, up 35-24 on the half, was outscored 23-9 inside the third quarter.

SUU’s Harley Hansen led all scorers with 18 elements.
