DALLAS — A uncommon draft poster for the “Star Wars” sequel “The Empire Strikes Again” has bought at public sale for $26,400.
Heritage Auctions says a long-time popular culture collector who wished to stay nameless made the profitable bid Sunday within the Dallas public sale.
The poster options Han Solo and Princess Leia in an embrace much like one from a “Gone With the Wind” poster that includes Rhett Butler carrying Scarlett O’Hara whereas surrounded by flames.
Gray Smith, Heritage’s director of classic posters, says the draft poster for the 1980 film “The Empire Strikes Again” is exclusive as a result of it exhibits Roger Kastel’s full art work within the authentic coloration palette.
