Nintendo teams up with studio behind Minions for Mario movie

TOKYO — Mario is getting along with the Minions.

Japanese video-game firm Nintendo Co. says a film starring the plumber within the Tremendous Mario franchise is within the works, being co-produced with Chris Meledandri, the chief govt of Illumination Leisure, the U.S. animation studio behind the favored “Despicable Me” collection.

Nintendo’s star recreation designer Shigeru Miyamoto instructed reporters Thursday the script is generally completed and is promising a “enjoyable” film, since Meledandri shares his pondering on inventive tasks.

The film, two years within the making after a gathering between Meledandri and Miyamoto, is ready for international distribution via Common, which co-owns Illumination, in line with the Kyoto-based maker of Pokemon video games and the favored Swap machine.
